TransMilenio
Bus (Bogotá) – launched in 2000, the TransMilenio is a bus rapid transit system that serves the Colombian capital. The TransMilenio consists of 12 bus lines covering 112 km. Using a contactless Smart card (MIFARE), the typical (peak) fare is COL$1,800 (about US0.90 cents); COL$1,500 for off-peak travel. Each of the 12 bus lines is represented by a letter (from “A” to “M”) totaling 144 bus stations that cover various points of Bogotá.
